Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills

The Canadian government has designed the Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills system to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers and prioritize applicants best suited to integrate into the Canadian society and positively impact the country’s economy. Unlike traditional immigration programs, there’s no rush to submit your profile since there’s no deadline, and the number of Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills applications accepted isn’t capped. So take your time and start your journey towards a better future in Canada today!

However, it will depend on Canada’s annual immigration levels.

Express Entry allows skilled immigration applicants to apply for PR under one of four economic immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canada Experience Class Program, and the Provincial Nominee Program (specific components).

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) : In order to attract skilled workers intending to venture into Canada permanently, the Government of Canada has introduced the Federal Skilled Worker Program for 2023. This initiative seeks highly qualified individuals whose input will positively impact economic growth in Canada. Tactical evaluation is used during selection that involves scrutinizing various aspects relating to key factors such as age, education level attainment, language proficiency (s), occupational background prowess, and likelihood of adaptation within Canadian surroundings. To qualify for consideration under this program formulae eligibility criteria requires a minimum score of 67 points in Federal Skilled Worker grid assessment resulting in successful application receiving an invitation through an application process under Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills System.
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) : The Canada Federal Skilled Trades Program is an immigration pathway for skilled trades workers to immigrate to Canada permanently. It aims to address the demand for skilled tradespeople and requires applicants to have a qualifying job offer, two years of work experience in the trade, and meet language requirements. Successful applicants receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills system.
  3. Canada Experience Class Program (CECP) : Searching high and low for ways in which you can achieve your ultimate goal of becoming a permanent Canadian resident? Check out the Canada Experience Class Program! As part of the Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills system this immigration service welcomes those who have existing work experience in Canada – typically at least one year working in skilled employment over the last three years qualifies applicants. Eligible candidates should establish an Express Entry profile without fail as it is necessary when applying for permanent residency with this program. This wonderful initiative offers international students and temporary foreign workers alike a solid step forward when transitioning into life as a Canadian resident.
  4. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) : The government of Canada provides foreign citizens with an exceptional opportunity with its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This scheme allows prospective immigrants entrance into selective provinces/territories contingent on matching their particular needs regarding economics and labor qualifications/proficiencies required by each one separately – via individualized PNPs available at respective locations – providing them unique pathways regarding Canadian permanency status as skilled workers or business professionals. The PNP design concentrates on economic development, offering diverse residency options to newcomers. Immigrants can attain complete independence of permanent residence anywhere in Canada as they ascend from this probationary stage to a better future in the country.

The application procedure includes two steps: establishing an Express Entry profile online.

Applicants will use their online profiles to provide Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada with their work experience, education, language abilities, skills, and other personal information pertinent to the application evaluation. Those who satisfy the requirements of one of those mentioned earlier, three professional immigration programs, will be admitted to a candidate pool. However, admission into the candidate pool does not guarantee an invitation to register for permanent residence (ITA).

Applicants with a job offer supported by a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or a provincial government nomination for permanent residence will have a greater chance of obtaining an ITA. It is optional for candidates without a job offer, LMIA, or provincial nomination to register with Employment and Social Development Canada’s Job Bank. Once in the pool, candidates should pursue employment through other independent means.

All Express Entry for Immigrants with Skills applicants will be ranked against one another using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Applicants are awarded points based on their talents, work experience, job offer, provincial nomination, and language proficiency. Those applicants with the most excellent CRS scores will be offered an Invitation To Apply (ITA).

A candidate will have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residence after receiving an ITA. Candidates who do not receive an ITA may remain in the applicant pool for 12 months. After 12 months in the Express Entry pool, candidates must establish a new online Express Entry Profile if they continue to satisfy the eligibility requirements for their chosen skilled immigration program.
